BIOGRAPHY
Antoni Bulbena Vilarrasa is Full Professor of Psychiatry at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and Director of Teaching and Research at the INAD, the Institute of Neuropsychiatry and Addictions at the Parc de Salut Mar in Barcelona. The INAD deals with the pyschiatric services of different hospitals that include more than 400 public beds and manages 7 mental health centres, 3 community centres for monitoring addictions and 10 care, prevention and occupational health programmes.
The areas in which he has developed his research include dementia and pseudodementia, psychiatric emergencies, memory, depression, the intake of chocolate and carbohydrates, clinical measurement in psychiatry, phobias and the relationship between biometeorology and seasons with psychopathology. The most prominent area of research on which he is working is the relationship between anxiety disorders and the associate somatic pathology, especially the original description of the close relationship between inherited abnormalities in collagen and anxiety.
