BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Narcís Cardoner Álvarez has been a specialist in psychiatry since 1998 and received his PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona in 2003. He completed his training in psychiatry at the University Hospital of Bellvitge and, in this same institution, he developed his activity as a consultant psychiatrist until January 2015. During the same period, he started his research activity, forming his own group in 2008 - Affective Disorders in Clinical Neurosciences-. His interests are focused on the clinical and neurobiological characterization of affective and anxiety disorders, especially using neuroimaging techniques with the aim of characterizing diagnostic or therapeutic markers with translational value. In February 2015 he continued his professional activity at the Parc Taulí University Hospital, where he assumed the direction of the Community Mental Health area and the coordination of the Observatory of Community Mental Health of Catalonia (OSAMCAT). In the field of research, he coordinated the Neurosciences research area and the position of Principal Investigator of the Affective Disorders and Clinical Neurosciences group. Also as Principal Investigator of the AGAUR consolidated research group; Cognitive Neurosciences and Affective Disorders (CNAD; 2017 SGR 1292) and co-IP of the CIBERSAM group of Parc Taulí. In April 2022 he became Director of the Psychiatry Service of the University Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau assuming the leadership of this prestigious Barcelona service in the clinical, teaching and research areas of psychiatry and addictions. He is currently full professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Legal Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He is the author of more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 9 reviews and 15 book chapters in high impact scientific journals in Psychiatry/Neuroscience, a total of 53 papers in 1D, 40 in 1Q and 9 in 2Q. Dr. Cardoner has supervised nine doctoral theses. Dr. Cardoner has been president of the Catalan Society of Mental Health and Psychiatry and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the European Colleague of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) since 2020. He maintains different international collaborations (Dr. Harrison, Melbourne, Dr. Loo, Sydney, Dr. Mataix-Cols Stockholm, Dr. Camprodon Boston and Dr. Raymond Lam Vancouver) and is a member of different research consortia such as ENIGMA.
