BIOGRAPHY

Estela Salagre (MD, PhD) is a specialist in psychiatry and Doctor Cum Laude in Translational Medicine and Research. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona (2011) and completed Specialized Health Training at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (2016), where he also completed basic training in Family Therapy. During this formative stage, he carried out a research stay at the IMPACT Strategic Research Center, in Australia, directed by Professor Michael Berk, where he carried out his first works on biomarkers in affective disorders in collaboration with Dr. Brisa Fernandes, a reference in this area. She later worked as a researcher at the August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) as part of the Bipolar and Depressive Disorders Unit of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, ​​​​where she was a Río Hortega researcher (2020-2022). She also has experience in the area of ​​research management thanks to her position as Deputy to the Scientific Directorate of the Center for Biomedical Research in Mental Health Network (CIBERSAM) (2017-2020). His main areas of research interest are new approaches to diagnoses in bipolar disorder, staging and early intervention in this disorder, all from the perspective of precision psychiatry. His doctoral thesis (2021) dealt with this same topic and obtained a cum laude mention. He has published more than 30 international collaborative articles in indexed journals, accumulating more than 860 citations. He has also written several book chapters on biomarkers, microbiota, and personalized psychiatry. She has received national and international awards for her scientific work (Berta Saborit Award for the promotion of research into bipolar disorders, 2020; European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) Excellence Award, 2020). It has been reviewed for various international scientific journals. She currently works as a clinical psychiatrist and postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University Hospital/Aarhus University (Denmark). She is also Junior Editor in the European Neuropsychopharmacology journal.
